Committing Horikiri

For Season one  please click here Meanwhile, Somewhere in Yokohama.

Déjà vu
So, I am back again, back to the land of the rising sun, or the land of confusion as I call it. I am hoping I will be less confused this time around but judging by the early experiences my sense of bafflement and bemusion (or is it bafflesion and bemusement?) will be off the scales again and I will be making lots of errors along the way.
Let’s start with my sense of déjà vu. My flat is exactly the same as the one I had last year. Exactly the same; same tiny size, same layout, same furniture, same washing machine, same pointless up a ladderbit that my knees won’t let me reach. The only difference is it is in a completely different part of Japan. Instead of being out of one side of Yokohama, I am on the other side of Tokyo. But lying in my bed, typing this, listening to the sweet sound of the air conditioning, you wouldn’t know it. When I open the front door, I am going to expect to see the streets of Mitsukyo, not the streets of Horikiri, it is a little bit discombobulating.

Anyway, over the next five months, I hope to amuse you with my reflections of being a Welshman in Tokyo. The title refers to the area I am in and not my state of mind. To find the entries, check out the links on the right sidebar and click on the one you wish to read.

To get us started here is some photos of food :-).
