A note about microwave roast potatoes.

You might find this surprising, but I think I can count the number of times I have baked a jacket potato in a microwave on the fingers of one hand. So, when I decided to eat in on Sunday because the typhoon was coming, I had to google how to microwave a jacket potato. (Turns out, it's quite easy, put it in and turn it on.) Anyway, while Googling, I discovered a recipe for microwaved roast potatoes. Now, I love a roast potato me, and having no oven in this caravan of a flat, meant I thought Roasties were going to be nothing but a fond memory for five months. But now I had the holy grail in my hand. I began planning my Christmas dinner, began  thinking about how I could have lovely roasties whenever I wanted them. The recipe was surprising similar to the jacket potato recipe in so far as you had to put them in and turn it on. The difference being you cut them up, splash  them with olive oil and cover the dish.
Ten minutes,
ten miniutes was all it was going to take for
my belly to be sated.
 I waited,
 bated breath.
Ping.
The ping of anticipation soon turned into the ping of crushing disappointment, my roasted spuds were merely chopped up, oily jacket potatoes. The recipe was a sham.
