A note about curry

Think of curry and you think of India, Pakistan, Thailand, Sri Lanka, not necessarily Japan, but if you’ve been to Wagamamas you will have noticed someone eating something that looks like the result of a bad night out and rice. That is Japanese Katsu Curry. I am half convinced that British Fish and Chip shop curry was inspired not by Delhi or Madras or Islamabad but by the Japanese Katsu, it’s as basic a curry as you can get and to be fare it is delicious.
Now if you want cheap and cheerful,  then you need to go to CoCo curry; Japan’s leading chain of curry houses, bish bosh bash, beautiful lunch in seconds, think McDonalds for curry, think Hamazushi for curry.
ut if you want even cheaper and even more cheerful get yourself a curry cube and cook it yourself. So, this is where I come all Gordon Ramsey at you, and give you a recipe.

First of all you need to buy your curry cubes. They are not quite like stock cubes but are similar.

Then, fry up your chicken, onions, peppers or whatever you would like in your curry.

Add hot water and stir in your block of curry cube.

Let it bubble for a few minutes.

Next gently pull back the top of your rice and pop it in the oven.

Ping! Rice cooked, curry cooked. Job done.
